چکیده

Laparoscopic skills improve with simulation-based training. However, training remains inaccessible in many low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). In response, we developed a low-cost simulator an assessment tool to support learning, practice, of laparoscopic salpingostomy skills. We conducted this study June–August 2021 at United States, Cameroon, Ethiopia sites. Participants (n = 18) viewed annotated video expert performing the procedure before uploading their own performance. 12) then reviewed rated subset videos 10) using novel verification proficiency (VOP) assessment. The VOP had 3 components: checklist for completion key tasks avoidance critical errors, modified Objective Structured Assessment Technical Skills (m-OSATS), overall competency rating. performed statistical analyses evaluate discrimination between novice performances, inter-rater agreement raters, correlation m-OSATS components’ summed scores. (P 0.001) 0.01) scores discriminated from performance, regardless rater’s level expertise. Inter-rater across raters was high (ICC |0.88, 0.95|, CI |0.79, 0.97|). Findings indicated strong positive (r 0.53, P 0.0001) rating 0.76, 0.0001). Preliminary evidence supports use highlights capacity global network peers assist learners’ performance allow scaling LMIC setting.

Persistent Ectopic Pregnancy After Laparoscopic Linear Salpingostomy for Tubal Pregnancy: Prevention and Early Detection

Persistent ectopic pregnancy (PEP) is a condition that occurs due to incomplete removal of trophoblastic tissue during fallopian tube-preservation surgery for tubal pregnancy. According to several studies, the incidence has been reported to be approximately 3%-20%,1 and the incidence appears to be rising due to the increase in treatment of tubal pregnancies via laparoscopic surgery.2-4 If treat...

Clinical characteristics of persistent ectopic pregnancy after salpingostomy and influence on ongoing pregnancy

AIM The aim of this study was to assay the clinical characteristics of persistent ectopic pregnancy (PEP) and its influence on ongoing pregnancy. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed 2498 patients who received salpingostomies as primary management for ectopic pregnancies from January 2004 to December 2009, using medical records and telephone inquiries. Clinical characteristics of the 52 patien...

[Low cost simulator for acquiring basic laparoscopic skills].

INTRODUCTION Laparoscopic surgery requires a different set of skills than conventional surgery. The aim of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of a low-cost simulator and camera for the acquisition of basic laparoscopic skills. MATERIAL AND METHODS This randomised trial involved 48 subjects (32 students and 16 surgeons). Two exercises were used, object transfer and cutting. Students wer...

Laparoscopic Management of Tubal Ectopic Pregnancy

OBJECTIVES To study the surgical morbidity associated with laparoscopic management of tubal ectopic pregnancy compared with that of open laparotomy. METHODS A retrospective study in an academic tertiary obstetrics and gynecology referral center was conducted from 2005 through 2007. Forty-nine patients who had pathology-confirmed tubal ectopic pregnancies were divided into 2 groups, laparoscop...
